My web host has just adjuste its terms of service and added in the following.

1. Any time you're sending a message no matter how large your e-mail list is you must throttle it. We recommend you throttle it to at the very least sending 1 email every 8 seconds. (Sending 1 every 8 seconds would send 450 emails within 1 hour, keeping you below the 500 outgoing email limit.) If the mailing list software you're using does not allow you to throttle you must switch to an application or script that will. We recommend PHPList, which can be found in your CPanel under Fantastico.

QUESTIONS

Is it possible to 'throttle' email sendouts an limit them to one email every 8 seconds? If so, how is it done??

If not, is it possible to swap MS Crons /email lists ie newsletter, product jvzone etc to PHPlist as they recommend??

Thanks

From Support…. (thanks Jyotii)

Hi David,

You can maintain the mail sending limits through the given variable for AR and member newsletters.

In Inbuilt AR you need to mention the value on "sMaxMailPerCron" variable from AR plugin -> General Setting -> sMaxMailPerCron.

For ex: You have scheduled the AR cron to run on every 10 min in an hour and you have mentioned the "sMaxMailPerCron" value to 80. It means the cron run on every 10 min in an hour and around 480 mails delivered in an hour.

Similarly, the member management module newsletter mail batch has been configured from MemberSpeed Configuration -> System Variables -> here the set the value in "VARMailBatch" variable.

For ex: You have scheduled the member send mail in every 10 minutes in every hour and mentioned 100 value to "VARMailBatch" variable. It means the cron sent the mails on every 10 min in an hour and around 600 mails delivered in an hour.
