In this model, I'm going to build:

- 3 memberships : free, silver, gold
- Silver is a 7 day free trial, recurring monthly membership at $19.95 per month and gold is an annual membership at $150 per year, I use Paypal as my merchant gateway
- On homepage is the sales letter with a free sign up form to capture leads
- Leads will be added to 3rd party autoresponder Aweber, with 3 lists accordingly with the 3 memberships
- As soon as they logged into their accounts for the first time, they will see a special offer (OTO) asking them to upgrade to silver or gold membership at a special discounted price of $9.95/m ( silver), $99/yr ( gold) instead of the regular prices
- If they skip it, they can upgrade at the normal price anytime later
- Affiliate will earn 50% commission on silver and 40% on gold membership
- Products: Free member gets 1 free download per month, Silver gets 2 downloads, and Gold gets 3 downloads

Step 1: Set up the 3 memberships
=========================

Go to Member Management module
Click on Membership Manager
By default, the free, silver, gold membership are created by the software, but I need to configure the settings to fit with my outlined goals above.
So I click on the Free membership
Change the hierachy to 20 which is the lowest level
( I will also change silver to 19, gold to 18, so that when free member wants to upgrade, they can see silver and gold options, and when silver member wants to upgrade they see gold option- no need to see silver or free options- in other words, the hierachy level setting ensures that the user only sees the higher levels than his current membership )

I select OTO is YES ( to show the one time offer as soon as they clicked on the confirmation link )
Instant activate to NO ( so free member needs to confirm their email address before logging into their accounts )
In the last box, where it says " content awaited free member", this is the first page the free member will see after logging into their accounts so I'm going to add some welcome notes here.

I check all my settings and then save it.

Then go to Silver and Gold and do similar changes except these two memberships are not free but paid.
The settings are straight forward so I'm not going to go in details here.
Since I'm using Paypal, I just ignore all 2CO fields.
So for silver membership, In regular price box, I put $19.95, in discounted price box I put $9.95
For Gold memberhsip, in regular price box I put $150.00, in discounted price box I put $99.00

Instant activate : YES ( I choose this setting because I want my paid member to get access to their accounts right away)
OTO is YES for silver

Step 2: Set Up Aweber
============================

Go to Member management module again
Click on AR setting on the left menu
I'm going to add 3 lists, the first one I called it "free member", the second is" silver member" and last" gold member"
So leave the window open here, I open a new one and log into my aweber account, make a list for free member, copy and paste the form on notepad then back to my memberspeed window, scan through the variables needed and fill them in from the aweber form.

Repeat the step for the other two lists.

Then back to "membership manager" click on free and link it to aweber free list, do the same for silver and gold.

Step 3: Set up OTO page
========================
Go to Site Design Module
Edit Pages
Click on change special offer page
I add my special offer sales letter here
At the end of the sales letter I have two OTO codes ( by default it is already there)

Step 4 : Set affiliate commission
=======================

Go to affiliate module
Click on Commission Scheme/ Create a new scheme
I name it "50%"
In the comission field, I put .5
Save. And create another scheme, name it " 40%", put .4 in the commission field. Save

Back to Member Management module, membership manager, on silver, I click on the commission link, and assign the 50% commission to this membership. On gold, I assign the 40%.

Step 5: Set up homepage with sales letter

Go To Navigation module, Manage Link category
On HOME link, click on LIST PAGES
Click on Index and edit this page with my own content/sales letter. At the end leave the REGISTRATION FORM code alone ( by default it is already there ). Save it.
Review the homepage, take note of other links that i don't want to show now, go back to navigation/manage link category and make all those links inactive for now.

Step 6: Testing

Go to Affiliate module
Click on Configure
Check the settings, make sure the cookie does not have a special character like.com, spacing…
Set commission as pending to NO
Then signup as an affiliate using the affiliate registration link there, jot down my new affiliate link
Open my affiliate link on a NEW BROWSER ( if you have been using IE, try it on FireFox ), or better yet on a different computer so the cookie can be tracked correctly.) Now sign up as a free member, test the whole system as if I am a customer.

Jot down everything that I wanted to modify later.
