Core-new installation (2.02)

Nam Tran Ybarra @ June 26, 2008

Overview:

Step1

====

1/ Download Zend or Ioncube
2/ Extract and upload files via FTP or Cpanel, in BINARY MODE
3/ Change permission of the following files to 777

+ /resources/ ( and allsubfolders-files)

+.htaccess ( change back to 755 after finished installation )

+dump

+trans_log

+/includes/global.php ( change back to 755 after finished installation )

Note: some servers only work with 755. It’s fine, just double check with your host.

Step 2: fill in your database information ( ask your host if you don’t know how)

core-install-mysql

Step3: fill in your domain information

====

core-install-domain

Note: Most errors happened here because the URLs don’t match as in your license

Continue on this page, ignore FTP fields

core-install-admin

Finally fill in your paypal and your license code.

Done!

Note: Your site admin control panel url will be:

http://YourDomain.com/control

OR

http://www.YourDomain.com/Folder-where-you-Installed_MemberSpeed/control

( Please replace YourDomain.com with your actual domain name, and if you installed MS in a folder, replace Folder-where-you-Installed_MemberSpeed with the actual name of the folder )

    Hi,
Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but….
I’m pulling together the necessary information to get my first MS installation done.
Some very nicely laid out steps here. Kudos guys!
What I woudl find really useful in addition to these resources woudl be a check-list or tick-list of ‘things to consider’ for creating your first MS site.
E.g. Help-desk:how will you handle this? Recommended solutions (e.g. Ticket Desk Pro).
Forum: will you install one? Recommended solutions (e.g. vBulletin).
    And so on.
Will post this in ‘old forum’ too.
    Cheers. Vinden (DCLMktg)

The ONLY thing that I’ve found anywhere on what host to use, is the link to Hostgator, but the instruction there is to check their packages to see what is compatible. Uh, according to your “core” instructions, NONE of their hosting would be compatible, because the PHP is all 5, none is 4.3. I would have to get a host from a ‘third world country’ to get that older php level, so what ARE we supposed to use in order to not have conflict?

I’d like to see an exact package please. This is supposed to be ‘tech free’ membership management, correct? So, please add this question onto the forum or something, so that people can get answers. :) Thanks much!

    Hi,

If you read the instruction carefully, you would see it said: ” Php.4.3 AND ABOVE” :)

===> Please check with your host about setting up a database.

=====> MS does not support arabic language, I’m afraid. There is no language setting, the default is English.

Hiya, i have seen your site when searching a few weeks ago and i really love the design! I just bought a new 3 character domain (cost me a packet) for a niche review blog, and i was wondering if your design is a free or paid one? I’m new to WordPress and about to set it up, and i would really like to get something with a similar look to yours. Any ideas where i could download or buy something similar? Thanks for your help! :)

At first glance, installation *seems* fairly straightforward. However…. there seem to be quite a number of issues that arise once people have installed their packages.

    1. Is there a move to have an ‘automatic installation’ please?
(Fill in certain data fields required; click upload et voilà! I’ve seen this elsewhere.)

    2. I’m looking to do 10-20 installations in the next 3-6 months, so anything that simplifies installation would be great ;-) Is there a comprehensive manual that incorporates all of the work-arounds and great ideas that have emerged in the forum? (Apologies if this has been answered already…)

    3. Do we have a release date (saw June, but when in June please? Am shortly doing / having an installation) for version 3 or 2.03 please? (Not sure if we’re all talking about the same thing here ;-) Is v3 the same as 2.03?!)

    Thanks.
    DCL

Zend seems to want Zend optimiser put on to install the software, is this necessary? And if so, any clues as to how to do this?

  11. Claire June 25, 2009 @ 3:30 pm

Its ok, I’ve installed it now!

Terrific feeling to hit the install button and have installation succeed on the first attempt! Just follow their step by step instructions and you should have not problems with your installation.

I just finished installing my site. Wow !!! I did it right the first time !!! It’s an incredible feeling. It’s 11h00 PM, but I don’t feel like going to bed right now. :)
